Shipping a container to or from Honduras is probably going to be slightly more expensive than most other places in the world. The reason for this is that there are very few companies who ship containers to Honduras and competition is low, which means higher prices.

In order to save some big bucks on shipping your container, it would be best if you found someone who is shipping out of the same port as you are. This will help lessen some of the stress with your shipping company and can help to lower prices considerably.

If you are speaking with a representative from your shipping company now, be sure to ask them what they charge for loading and unloading in Honduras. If their prices seem high, make sure you ask them for an explanation. If they are in fact charging you too much, it would be best to find another company who will give you a better price.

Honduras is not the country to ship your container to if you are looking to get the best deal, so be prepared for costs that are slightly higher than other places in Latin America.

What is the cost of shipping a car to Honduras?

The cost of shipping a car to Honduras will depend on how big it is. You can fit one or two midsized cars into an ocean container which ships for $1,500 to $2,000 depending upon the destination port. This price also includes 20 feet of space in the container for personal belongings and household goods. Pricing for containers to Honduras can be $1,000 cheaper if you are willing to "stuff" the container leaving no space available for personal belongings.

You will likely want to ship your car by roll-on/roll-off (RORO) because they are usually cheaper than container shipping but they also take longer. The standard rate that carriers offer is $600 per car, regardless of the size or value. This price excludes the driver's personal belongings which can be shipped in a 20ft container with household goods for an additional cost.

LCL vs. FCL- Which is Best for Shipping Container to Honduras?

When shipping a container to Honduras it is very important that you choose the right type of shipping container. There are two types of shipping containers LCL or Less than Container Load and FCL or Full Container Load. Both have different costs attached to them with each being more suited for certain situations.

If you are only shipping one or two items to Honduras it is more than likely best to go with an LCL. This will work out much cheaper than FCL, however, there are some drawbacks to this option. You will not be able to choose which type of container you would like, therefore you may end up with a standard 20ft container or a 40ft, etc. This can be a problem for some items as you will not have the correct size of container to fit all your goods in. Another drawback is that you will be sharing space with other people's goods, therefore adding time to delivery schedules and increasing the chance of damage while in transit.

Another option is to go for the FCL. If you are only shipping one or two items this will likely be a much more costly option but it gives you much more flexibility and control over your shipment. You will be able to choose which type of container is right for you, such as 20ft, 40ft, 45ft, etc. It also allows you to choose what date you wish to pick up your container and has less of a chance of being damaged during transit. It is more suited for larger shipments with over 15 items or so.

If you are shipping large amounts of goods it is most likely best to go with an FCL as this will work out cheaper in the long run. If you do not have a large number of goods to ship you might want to consider going with an LCL. This will be much more cost-effective if the items are not delicate or too large for a standard-length container. I hope that this has helped in some way and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

TYPES OF FREIGHTS

What is air freight?

Airfreight is an expensive option for shipping, but it can be more efficient when you are shipping smaller items. However, when you are shipping larger items that weigh more than 500 pounds, air freight can become cost-prohibitive. Air freight is also a great option for shipping perishable items that are time-sensitive. If you want to cut down costs, consider having your post office or FedEx pick up air freight shipments from the airport rather than receiving them yourself.

Another way to cut costs with air freight is by consolidating small packages into one box and utilizing economies of scale. It is also a good idea to use boxes designated for air freight. Airfreight is not recommended for shipping anything below your parcel service's size or weight requirements, as it can become costly to ship heavy items this way.

What is ocean freight?

Ocean freight is a term used to describe the cost of moving goods from one destination to another via cargo ship. In the ocean shipping industry, there are many different types of goods that can be shipped by boats, such as cars, furniture, food, and even people themselves.

In order for shipments to go from point A in one country to point B in another, the goods first need to be picked up and delivered to a seaport (Point A) and then loaded onto a cargo ship (Point B). The shipping industry works on an international scale, thus there can be many different types of companies involved in this process such as forwarding agents.
