How much does it cost to move a container to Kuwait?
Most companies will charge you anywhere between $2000 to $3000. It's impossible to give you an exact price because it all depends on numerous factors.
Factors such as the season, weight of your cargo, type of transport, and distance, will affect your overall shipping cost.
Let's say you are relocating your container anytime between June through August. There's a high chance that you will pay more for the shipping fee because these are the busiest months in Kuwait. Since many people are visiting the country, the ports will be active, and you might need to pay extra in order to process your cargo immediately.
Other than those, the following might also affect your overall shifting cost:
- Insurance
- Packing
- Taxes and Custom fees
- Inspections
- General Rate Increase
- Storage

Which Size of Container Works Best for Me?
If you're moving residential or commercial belongings, either a 20ft or 40ft container is enough.
The storage space of a 20ft container can hold 20 pallets or the contents of an average-sized house. The 40th container will double that capacity, but it doesn't mean that the price will increase. The cost will depend on the method of transport.
Also, you can use a 40ft container without paying for it entirely. You can share the expenses of using a container with other people. If you choose this, however, you will also share the cargo space. This shipping method is called LCL or Less Than Container Load.
But if you will use the entire container, you will ship through FCL or Full Container Load. But despite its name, you can still move it even if it's not full.
Different Types of Freight Transportation
There are many types of freight transportation, but it's basically air cargo, ocean cargo, or land freight.
Land transportation is the common method for intercontinental or domestic transfers. It's the most inexpensive way to move cargo, but it's only limited to places accessible by roads or railways.
So if you're relocating from the United States, air and ocean freight are the best options.
You can move your container to Kuwait through air freight. It's more likely that your cargo will arrive at its destination within a day or two. However, this type of transportation is expensive, and if your items are heavier than the allowed weight, you will pay more for the shipping fee.
That is why many people choose to move their cargo through sea freight. Though this type of transportation is slower than air freight, it's not expensive. Also, you won't have additional charges even if your load is heavier than usual. In sea freight, your shiftting rate depends on the dimension and end destination of your cargo.

Customs duties are a form of cross-border tax levied by customs to assist the government gain money and safeguard local businesses.

It's better to check Kuwait's import regulations to see what paperwork is necessary. If you don't have all of the needed paperwork, your shipment might be delayed or even prevented from reaching its destination port.
Prepare the appropriate documents to avoid delays and guarantee that your shipment reaches its destination in a timely manner. When moving a container abroad, these are some of the most common documents necessary:

The FCL shipment is not updated by the shipping crew. It is not changed in any manner, although it may be re-handled at a different port if there is no direct service from point to point.
Meanwhile, LCL shipments are composed of a variety of cargoes from different consignees. Before being delivered to their end location, these shipments are reworked or opened in each port of destination.
The tare weight of a 20-foot shipping container is 2,300 kg, while the maximum cargo weight (payload) that may be safely and legally loaded is 28130 kg.
However, keep in mind that this is only theoretical information; you will not be able to load 28 TON.
Even if it is not required by law, it is usually a good idea to acquire cargo insurance for your shipment.
As your freight passes through multiple hands, vehicles, and ports, it is subject to a great deal of danger.
Cargo insurance protects you against financial loss if your cargo is damaged or lost. If your freight is damaged by a covered incident, it pays you the amount you're insured for. Natural catastrophes, vehicle accidents, cargo abandonment, customs refusal, acts of war, and piracy are typically covered occurrences.
A bill of lading is a record of the traded commodities that have been received on board in the shipping business. It's an agreement that binds a shipper and a shipping company to a transportation agreement. These documents are delivered to the shipper by the logistics company (carrier).
The carrier through which the products will be carried to their final destination, as well as the terms under which the shipment will be conveyed, are specified in a bill of lading. Land, sea, and air are all options for transporting bills of lading.
