The first step in your cheap moving process is getting your quote for the moving services. With Three Movers, your online quote is always FREE, and you’re under no obligation to accept it. During your research, you’ll discover that Three Movers has provided you with unbeatable long distance moving rates with exceptional moving services to back it up!

When we provide you with a quote, we take a few things into consideration to give you the best possible price. These include the distance the truck has to travel, as well as the size/weight of the move, and the moving season. The moving season plays an important role in your quote. Moving prices are also affected by special/additional services. These moving services are those not included in the standard move such as providing storage facilities or decommissioning an office or warehouse space.

7 Nevada Commercial Packing Tips

Even though packing boxes isn’t rocket science, it requires some sort of expertise to do it properly. If your boxes aren’t packed properly for the move, your items can get tossed around and damaged, or worse, destroyed. If you’re a first-time mover, this crash course on packing for a commercial move can save you a ton of heartache.

1. Invest in high-quality packing supplies

You may not want to spend too much on boxes and tape, and other packaging materials because you’ll only use them once, but cheaper isn’t better here. You want to make sure your boxes will be able to hold their contents for extended periods without falling apart, and that they’re sealed and padded properly to prevent the items from getting damaged.

Free grocery boxes are not ideal for packing and will become damaged easily by moisture or weight. Moving boxes aren’t that expensive considering the risk, and you can easily order some online.

2. Create an inventory and go in with a game plan

You can’t get up one day and start tossing items into boxes. If you do so, you’ll only be setting yourself up for failure. Start by creating a game plan. Figure out which rooms/offices/areas you want to tackle first, and lay out the appropriately sized boxes and packaging materials.

Make an inventory of everything going into the boxes so you can locate them easily in your new commercial space. It helps to color code boxes based on their purpose as well. For example, admin documents can be blue, while small office tools like staplers and printers can be orange.

3. Toss unused and unwanted items

Decluttering is a good idea when moving. You don’t want to fill the boxes with stuff you rarely use or are out of commission. Plus, when you do this, it lightens the weight of your move and you can end up saving money.

A good way to get rid of unwanted items is by selling and donating them. Things that no longer have use or value can be designated for disposal.

4. Heavy on the bottom, light on top

As a general rule of thumb when packing, place the heavier items at the bottom and lighter items on top. This prevents the heavier stuff from crushing the lighter ones. This rule also applies when filling the moving truck, as this will stabilize the pile and prevent things from falling and causing chaos during the move.

Be sure to label heavy boxes accordingly, as well as those that contain fragile items so your movers don’t have any surprises on move day.

5. Don’t leave empty spaces but don’t overpack the boxes

Leaving empty spaces in the boxes will only allow the items to toss around during the move. This can cause the box to break, or the contents to become damaged. Line the bottom of your boxes with newspaper or padding to help prevent the bottom from bursting open. Fill gaps with padding and newspaper to keep the contents of the box stable.

Overpacking your boxes is a bad idea too. You may be tempted to try to fit as many items as you can in your boxes, but this will only work against you. If you’re straining to pick up a box after you pack it, it means there are too many heavy items and the box could break.

Try to keep each box at under 50 pounds so your movers will not have to strain or require equipment to move them out which can increase your moving price.

As it relates to heavy equipment, this is going to automatically require the movers to use special equipment to move. These items are better transported in crates versus boxes.

6. Don’t rush

A commercial move is planned well ahead of time, so you should have more than enough time to pack at a comfortable pace. Rushing to pack will work against you. You may lose track of items, pack poorly, and end up feeling overwhelmed.

Create a schedule for packing, whether it’s dedicating a few hours on the weekend or packing for an hour every day. Find a pace that does not inconvenience you in any way. You should not be straining yourself either, so if you feel tired from packing, call it a day and pick it up tomorrow.

7. Let your movers pack for you

If it’s a case where you don’t have the time to pack ahead of schedule, or you can’t start packing until you can close your business, you can ask us to do the packing for you. The benefit of this additional service is that you won’t have to lift a finger. The movers take care of everything for you, working quickly and efficiently till the job is done.

If you will need packing and crating services, let us know ahead of time so we can accommodate you. If you wait till the day of the move, we cannot guarantee our movers will be able to facilitate your request. This can cause your shipment to become delayed, so don't you delay!
