We Stand in Solidarity with the Black Community

In these times of injustice, silence is not an option. We, at Three Movers, stand with our fellow Black employees, consumers and the entire Black community in the fight against systemic racism, prejudice, violence and hate.
At Three Movers, we believe very strongly that Black Lives Matter. There is simply no place for bigotry and hate at our company. In recent weeks, we’ve seen America’s long overdue awakening to systemic racism. It’s undeniable that systemic and systematic racism plagues America and discrimination against Black Americans is rooted in the economic, social and political structure of this country. This issue was adopted in the origins of America and remains today, conveying itself in new and intolerable ways.
As a country we witnessed the heinous murder of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis. Sadly, this is just one instance of a problem that we see far too often in America. As citizens of this country we must voice these issues and work to end the circumstances that led to his death. These same circumstances have resulted in the deaths of numerous others, and the years of generational oppression of Americans.
Although, as a moving company, we may not be at the forefront of these issues. However, that does not mean we are immune to them either. Every industry in this country, ours included, have all played some role in the unjust treatment of black and brown people over the years. It is our duty to understand our history so that we do not repeat it. Through this, we can work to make the country’s future far better than our past.
It’s time that we, as a country, start to feel a little uncomfortable. The black and brown people in America have been feeling uncomfortable for far too long. We have a responsibility to speak out against any injustice, to help educate our fellow citizens and stand up for what is right without compromise. Meanwhile, it’s important that we’re making a conscious effort to listen, learn and inform ourselves about the Black experience and what we can do to overcome implicit biases. After all, it isn’t enough to just be “not racist,” we must be actively antiracist. This isn’t just a moment, it’s a movement and as long as we’re working towards change, it will come.
As protests around the world continue over the deaths of George Floyd and the senseless killing of Breonna Taylor, we’re already seeing the impact. Many police departments across the US have banned the use of chokeholds; Minneapolis, Chicago and Denver to name a few. Following protests, charges were upgraded against the officers involved in George Floyd’s murder and the FBI launched an investigation into the death of Breonna Taylor. This is just some of the change that we’re seeing take place in public life and further proof that we must not be silent.
On the other side, we are also seeing change in the conversations, education and self-reflections happening around the country in regards to institutional racism and injustice. This same change is taking place at Three Movers. We are having more open and honest conversations within our business and examining our industry as a whole. From now on, it is our goal to create an equal and accepting space for people of color within our workplace, among our customers and the communities we interact with.
Along with being actively antiracist, to help the cause we will be donating $20 to the #BlackLivesMatter Global Network for every order booked with Three Movers. This is just the beginning of our determination to instill change and to discover how we can do our part within our industry.
To all those fighting for positive change and justice, Three Movers, stands with you.
