Moving With Car Shipping

Moving Tips for Service Members
Moving can be an overwhelming undertaking and is often cited as one of the most stressful activities we can do in our lives. Many surveys indicate that moving is, in fact, the most stressful event in many people’s lives, right up there with divorce. Alleviating the stress is one of the key reasons that many choose to hire professional movers, rather than doing the job entirely on their own. Typically, the more belongings you have to move, and the further you’re moving, add to the stress. In light of this, you can imagine the stress that comes with having to move long distance and ship a car at the same time.
The more that a moving company can take off your plate, the easier it is to focus on the other aspects of relocating your life, which is why we’re proud to be one of the few long distance movers that also provides auto transport services. Since not every moving company offers car shipping along with standard moving services, it’s not always easy to find a mover that’s able to handle everything you need when moving. If you have to work with two separate companies—one to move your belongings and one to ship a vehicle—that only adds to what’s an already stressful live event. Having one company that provides all of the services can effectively cut out half of the difficulty of the initial process. Rather than researching movers and car shippers, contacting two different companies, reviewing prices, and communicating all the necessary information, you can simply deal with one person or company throughout the entirety of the moving process. Not only that, but you can have your car or cars shipped directly to your new address along with your household items, which is a service that our customers speak highly of when it comes to making a long distance move as easy and seamless as possible.

Different Methods of Car Transport When Moving
Shipping a car is not a simple process, but it’s fairly straightforward on the consumer end. Essentially, you have two basic methods of transport: open and enclosed shipping. Both terms refer to the type of transport truck used when moving a vehicle. Enclosed shipping means that your car is moved in an enclosed truck that is specifically make to haul cars in the safest and most protected way possible. There is no possibility of damage from bad weather, rocks that may kick up during shipment, or any chance of access while your car sits on a truck overnight during longer trips. For this reason, most owners of high end or luxury cars prefer an enclosed carrier.

By contrast, an open carrier leaves the vehicle “exposed,” for lack of a better word. That doesn’t mean that your car will be dinged up, damaged, or broker into if you use an open carrier, but an open carrier doesn’t offer the security and protection of enclosed transport. In fact, these types of incidents are incredibly rare with open air car shipping. The benefit or an open carrier is that it is more affordable than using an enclosed carrier. Enclosed shipping is usually done with a smaller cargo area that hauls only one or two cars in most cases. Open air transport can move more vehicles at once, which accounts for it being a more cost effective method.
